Spa Day

I was inspired after our trip to zihuatanejo to have a sorta "healthy" day with the kids. So the first "no school" day we invited our friends Kennedy, London and Holly over for a day of exercise, pampering and of course eating.. We started the day off with yoga and when they finished I put the little aromatic towel on their eyes. Yeah for Reagan being the only boy amongst the pack of girls.

I had just bought a blendtec and was excited to use it so I made them smoothies to enjoy after such a hard workout!! The pampering came next. We used Sadie and Derek's rooms as massage areas and had pedicures and manicures. They paired up and worked on each other. Derek even got into a little mani pedi! To keep true with our healthy day I used the blender to make a delicious chicken tortilla soup. It was cool putting in all kinds of un cut veggies and adding warm water then pushing the "soup" button and having it produce a warm fresh soup for us to enjoy.

No party is complete with out a little sweet something. So once again I used the blender to make Oreo ice cream for our treat. Fun was had by all that joined in.

Zihuatanejo

Every January Brad has a planning meeting with NACS and they seem to go to warm exotic places. This year was no exception. Zihuatanejo, in the southern part of Mexico, was the destination.
I want to preface this post with the understanding that I do feel some guilt as Brad has to sit in meetings while I get to play.

We stayed at the Tides resort which was right on the beach. Everyday they would decorate our pillows with new pictures made from flower pedals. So cute I say!  Another cool things is that each night we got a gift that informed us of the next days activities.

One of the days the chef from the resort took us into town so we could buy the food needed to prepare a dish for dinner that night. Oh my was that an experience, winding our way through the narrow smelly markets and by the time we were done I wasn't sure I wanted to eat anything after that little excursion. During December and January is when sea turtles make their way to land so they can lay their eggs. We were lucky enough one night to see this. Although she didn't lay her eggs because apparently she didn't like the sand. She did give it a good try though.

Oh how I don't love to get up early and for exercising, even worse. But who could resist yoga on the beach each morning as the cool ocean breeze gently blows across you? Not even me! The instructor was awesome, at the end of class she would lay a cool aromatic towel over your eyes as you lay their relaxing and then give a little massage, heavenly. I even got Brad to go a few mornings, he was such a good sport especially since he is so not flexible and she would have to help him with the positions. It made for a good laugh thanks hon.

While walking the beautiful grounds of this resort I rounded the corner to run into this!! Yes I did let out a yelp.

Brad was able to go swim with the dolphins with us one of the days and boy am I glad. I'm not the greatest with water activities as it is BUT I almost got put over the edge with this one. We had just gotten in the water and were starting this scary experience when an arm comes flying over the edge of the pool and the trainer is yelling for someone to hand him the "beating" pole. I immediately think this is safe? I don't think so and I want out. The trainer then jumps out of the pool and I can see his leg is bleeding!! Yup the dolphin decided to bite him. Nice, kind, gentle animal NOT.  My name then gets called to ride the dolphin, I'm not so sure about this as you can imagine. With some assurance from Brad I stuck it out and am glad I did. Two dolphins put their noses on our feet and pushed usout of the water and across the pool. It was a lot of fun!!
It's always nice to lay on the beach and soak up the warm sun especially when leaving the cold winter days in Utah. It was even better when the servers would show up around noon and make fresh guacamole for us to enjoy! Yummmy.
